Owen
West and Jane Jennie McClure reared seven sons and one
daughter. The seven brothers are pictured, below, in one
of the oldest photos of West family ancestors that we have
available at this time. James McDaniel West, the eldest of
the brothers and the grandfather of Daniel Lafayette West, is
pictured seated at center. There is no known photograph of
daughter, Etna. (Photo date and location is
unknown.) Photo courtesy of West cousin Margaret Stokes
Carrell.

Asa
and Lucy Cherry had eleven children, and many of those
children had large families, too. The photo,
below, shows a "right smart" portion of the
Cherry family early in the 20th century. The photo was
presumably made at the elder Cherry's residence on Casa
Road in the Petit Jean Township in Conway County,
Arkansas. The date of the photo is unknown, but at
the left of the group is Lee Onzo Cherry and his family,
which appears to include two small children, which could
place the date around 1910 (perhaps). The woman
standing immediately to the left of Lucy Johnson Cherry
(seated) is Laura Edna Cherry, mother of Daniel
Lafayette West (see photo at right). Not sure who
the child holding her hand is. |

In
the following undated photo, Asa Cherry (left) is
pictured with three unidentified young men (possibly
sons?) at an unknown location, but probably at the
Cherry homestead. This photo may have been made at
a later date than the one shown above (and then again,
maybe not). |

Below
is the only photo that we have found (to date) of Andrew
Hamilton West. The picture shows Andy West with his
wife Laura Cherry, presumably taken in a studio
setting. Not certain as to the date of the
photograph, or the identity of the child. Judging
by the clothes it looks like the child could be a girl -
but you never know. A. H. and Laura West are the
parents of Daniel Lafayette West. Photo courtesy of cousin Marilyn
Burnett. |

Switching
to the McElroy side of the family, the photos, below, have been identified
as John Houston McElroy, father of Gaash Hill McElroy and grandfather of
Loretta Jane McElroy. The bottom photo shows John H. McElroy in
uniform during the civil war. |

The
photo, below, shows John Riley Taylor (father of May Jane Taylor and
grandfather of Loretta Jane McElroy) with his second wife, Delcenia Reeves
and their children, Huel, Wesley and Dora Mae. The photo is believed
to have been made prior to 1910 at an unknown location. |

The
following photos are of Gasham Hill McElroy and May Jane Taylor taken at
their home in Prairie County, Arkansas. The date is unknown but
would have to be sometime before 1942. G. H. and Jane McElroy
are the parents of Loretta Jane McElroy. |
